About Cory

I’m a Florida native, born in Tampa. My family has worked construction in Florida for generations; my first job after high school was in the trades. After leaving the construction site to go to college, I graduated from the University of Florida with cum laude honors. I then earned my Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, ranked first in the nation for trial advocacy and legal writing by U.S. News & World Report. While there, I earned Stetson’s Concentration in Advocacy: specialized training in trial advocacy, appellate practice, negotiation, and clinical casework. I was also awarded the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for my work as a court-appointed advocate for Florida’s neglected and abused children.

I learned how to practice law as a law clerk for an esteemed civil litigator and law professor who has tried cases for three decades, often arguing his own appeals. There I learned there is only one way to do things: the right way. As a law clerk, I litigated cases from start to finish, drafting everything from pleadings and discovery to dispositive motions and appellate briefs in cases with millions of dollars at stake. After my clerkship, I began my career as an attorney for Florida’s Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office, fiercely fighting in the courts for the same neglected and abused children I once served as a volunteer.

Before becoming an attorney, I watched Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton ravage the homes of my family and friends, only for four different carriers to underpay or refuse coverage, saying the damage did not exceed deductibles. Only after two family members and two close friends fought back with experts and attorneys did they see fair compensation. While one family member eventually settled for six figures, another, who had faithfully paid homeowner’s insurance since 1976 without ever filing a claim, settled for barely enough to make only a portion of the necessary repairs. One family friend was forced to live in a hotel, and another lived under a tarp with his home unrepaired for almost two years before obtaining a reasonable settlement.

Those injustices stay with me. They showed me how much Florida’s property owners need someone who will fight as fiercely as my mentor’s firm fought for accident victims. I started this practice with Floridians like my friends and family in mind: dedicating my career to fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves, in courts where judges and juries bring justice to those who need it most.

What Sets the Firm Apart

  • Focused advocacy. Plaintiff-side property, construction, business, and personal injury matters that reward careful evidence work and litigation readiness.
  • Construction fluency. A family background in construction and a habit of checking every figure against what the work really costs.
  • Across the construction chain. The firm represents property owners asserting defect and contract claims and contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers asserting payment, lien, and bond claims.
  • Straight answers. Plain-language explanations of the available legal paths, the evidence each path requires, and the fee arrangements that may be available.

When a case turns on an engineering or other technical question, I retain an appropriately qualified independent professional to evaluate it.

Who I Represent

On the insurance side, my clients are policyholders fighting their own insurer over hurricane, roof, water, fire, and other property claims. On the construction side, they include owners pursuing builders for defective work and claimants in payment, lien, and contract disputes. I also handle business and contract litigation, represent condominium and homeowner associations, and evaluate personal injury claims for people harmed by someone else’s negligence.

Where I Practice

I serve the greater Tampa Bay and Suncoast region from my Tampa office, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sun City Center, Bradenton, Sarasota, and Venice. The initial consultation is free. Fee arrangements for representation depend on the matter.
